The Bennington County Sheriff’s Office sent Staff Sergeant Joel Howard to Burr and Burton for a lesson in texting and driving. Sergeant Howard also brought BAC alcohol impaired goggles to see what driving under the influence is like.Under the supervision of BBA teacher Julie Crousier students first drove the course unimpaired to familiarize themselves with the golf cart and course and then a second time while responding to text messages. Number of cones hit and stop line violations where counted and compared reflecting how difficult it is to drive a vehicle and text.
BBA student volunteers Nate Severance and Derrik Whittemore rode in the cart and responded to text messages sent by Jade McLellan.
